Conseils sur la routine de soins capillaires

The perfect hair care routine doesn’t have to exi… yes, yes, it does. Healthy, beautiful hair doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a lot of care and the right combination of products. You can have a counter full of great hair products, but if they’re not tailored to your hair type, they won’t do you much good. Indeed, it can be difficult to determine which products are best for your hair’s needs. There are products to soften, moisturize, strengthen, shine and even products that claim to do all of the above. If your hair is distressed, dry or lifeless, you may want to consider pursuing a hair care routine for healthier hair.

However, developing a hair care routine goes far beyond the frequency of washing.

While the basics of a hair care routine are washing, drying and styling, there are many other factors to consider in order to achieve healthier, thicker and shinier hair. While you don’t need a dozen products and tools to get the hair you want, there’s more to hair care than just shampoo and conditioner.

So how do you know what will work? To get the most out of your hair, here are some points on how to establish a hair care routine or improve your current one.

Conseils sur la routine de soins capillaires

1. Determine your hair type.

When you think of hair type, most people respond with the usual answer: straight hair, wavy hair, curly hair, or frizzy hair. But… hair type is not just about texture. There are also factors such as considering the strength and porosity of your hair, i.e., its ability to absorb and retain moisture. No two heads of hair are the same, so it’s important to choose a routine designed for your specific hair type and goals.

2. Identify the look you want and gather your hair products

Decide on your preferred hairstyle and identify the problems you want to solve. Be aware that it is perfectly normal for a person to have more than one concern. If it helps, write them down and share them with your hairdresser who can recommend the ideal combination of products for your hair care needs. Think about things like: Are you following your hair treatment steps? Is your hair chemically treated? Is your scalp dry, oily, or normal? Etc. This will help you determine what shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask you might need. Next, identify your preferred styling method, which will help you determine which styling products you will need.

While the type of products you need will depend on your hair’s needs, there are a few essentials for any hair care routine:

  • A shampoo and conditioner depending on your hair type (we can help you choose).
  • A microfiber towels
  • A good quality hair dryer with adjustable heat
  • A diffuser for curly hair
  • A heat protection spray or cream
  • Styling product (spray, gel, mousse, etc.)
  • A paddle brush – these are generally suitable for all hair types.

However, they are made with different types of bristles, which can be chosen according to the type of hair. For example, if you have thick hair, choose a brush with stronger bristles, such as nylon and synthetic, which can go through textured hair without any problems.

3. The basics of creating a hair care routine

Although there are different hair types, there are a few basic steps that apply to all of them, such as cleaning, conditioning, detangling, styling, and proper processing. It’s how you carry out each of these steps and the products you use that change, depending on your hair type.

Cleanse to reset and remove excess hair oils, products, dirt, and dead skin from the scalp.

Use a conditioner to keep your hair hydrated and lock in moisture.

Detangle your hair gently to avoid breakage, you should brush your hair with a good quality detangling brush to detangle it.

Use a hair mask every week (or two) to target your specific hair problems.

Always use products to style your hair. Products not only help you style your hair, but also protect it from the elements.

Always keep in mind that the quality of your hair can change over time, so you should update your routine from time to time. Look at your hair to see what processes and products you need to change and what you need to keep doing, always consult your stylist before making these changes.
